Women make up 57% of the college graduates in the US, but only 14% of the executive officer positions in the US. One goal at Actant Coaching is to contribute to increasing that percentage by making sure that young high-potential women have the tools, confidence, and training they need to become strong leaders. We believe that by identifying high-potential women and investing in their development early, your company can expect to see an increase in women leaders.
We offer a special 1:1 coaching program for women with leadership potential and new women managers to help them develop. In the process, we will (i) work through developing an authentic leadership style, (ii) refine communication skills for difficult conversations, (iii) learn time management techniques, (iv) create a roadmap for career progression, (v) identify competencies required to become a leader and (vi) create a development plan to acquire those competencies. We expect women to complete the coaching engagement with all the tools required to be a great leader.
In addition to offering 1:1 coaching, we also offer a Women Leadership Development Program to holistically address the growth of women leaders. The program is designed to create a community for women at your company to support, learn, and grow together. The program is tailor-made to suit the needs of your company, but usually spans 4 months and involves 3 parts:
1) Monthly Half-Day Seminars on Leadership Tools for Women
These sessions are round-table talks followed by discussions open to all women in the program. Every session covers a new topic essential for strong leaders. Examples include - discovering your authentic leadership style, conflict resolution, building a career path. These discussions are held in the round to not only educate, but also to build community.
2) Bi-Weekly 60-minute Coaching Sessions
These coaching sessions entail a 360-degree assessment to understand how an individual is perceived, career planning exercises, and then individual self-exploration to understand the self in a career space - conflict resolution style, the power of language, limiting beliefs. Participants should leave these sessions with a clear idea of where they want to go in their career and how to get there.
3) Mentorship Pairing
Women benefit by having an advocate and friend at work. Actant Coaching will facilitate a mentorship program at your company to ensure that participants have support within the company from both men and women.
It is important to know and acknowledge that the struggles women face can be different from men’s struggles. At Actant Coaching we understand this because we have experienced it first-hand. Our founder, Emily Grewal, spent the majority of her life in male-dominated fields - studying statistics in graduate school at Stanford, and being one of five women product managers out of 60 product managers at Facebook in the early days. This experience, in tandem with watching her mother become one of the few tenured women professors in the sciences at Yale University, has given her a deeper understanding and appreciation for what it takes to become a woman leader.
